Costa Rica, Tributos Del Ota
A new Costa Rican? Yes indeed — this one’s here to seal the deal. Rich in history, bold in character, and bursting with flavour, this Ethiope blend comes from the storied highlands of Costa Rica.
It undergoes a lactic fermentation washed process - a precise method that enhances its vibrant acidity and layered complexity. The result is a cup that speaks for itself — lively, full-bodied, and effortlessly smooth. It’s the kind of coffee that doesn’t need to shout “show me the money” — it just proves its worth with every sip.

At just 19 years old, Enrique Romero Chacón proposed a bold change for his family’s coffee business by starting a micromill to process the coffee his parents had cultivated since 1980. With the support of his parents, Victor Romero and Thais Chacón, and his brothers, Enrique launched the Tributos del Ota project in 2017. Each family member contributes to improving production and processing, drawing on Victor’s 40 years of experience as a guiding foundation. Located in the Santa María de Dota valley, 64 km southeast of San José, the region’s stable climate and high elevations produce consistently high-quality coffee. The name “Tributos del Ota” honors the valley’s indigenous history, paying tribute to the legacy of the Ota chieftain and the people who once traded in the area.
Expanding his vision, Enrique opened a roastery in San Marcos de Tarrazú, roasting his family’s coffee for Costa Rican cafés and restaurants while supporting other local producers. The family’s Don Joaquín farm, spanning 36 hectares at 1,875–2,050 meters above sea level, grows specialty varieties like Gesha, Milenio, and SL-28. Located in the Tarrazú region, known for its high altitudes, distinct rainy and dry seasons, and rich volcanic soil, the family continues striving for sustainability by improving efficiency, adopting new technologies, and reforesting their land to support biodiversity.
